A beautiful place to visit at anytime but one weekend saw a civil war reenactment, muskets, canons and cavalry. Was fantastic
Had a great day in the grounds of the castle watching the Civil War re-enactment. The volunteers made us feel very welcome, and the civil war members spent a great time explaining the intricacies of what they were portraying. Well done everyone.
I'm in love with this place . I love the way it looks, the surroundings . We didn't had the chance to find it open but I enjoyed seeing it soo close βΊοΈππ
The castle is located in a beautiful park, with plenty of walking trails and picnic areas. There is also a visitor center and gift shop on site, which offer a variety of souvenirs and information about the castle and the surrounding area.
Overall, Hylton Castle is a fascinating historical landmark that is definitely worth a visit. The castle itself is impressive, and the surrounding park is a great place to explore. Whether you're a history buff or just looking for a fun day out, Hylton Castle is definitely worth checking out.
Excellent place to wander round and go for a walk.
There is a guided tour of the restored castle available, but best to book this !!
We were in a playground nearby and decided to see if the castle renovation was finished. It's already open! We have a national trust membership but the castle belongs to English heritage and as we swapping memebership annually we will see the castle itself a bit later, but the cafe inside we can highly recommend for a visit just now. The staff are incredibly friendly and pleasant, they made our little visit very atmospheric
Popped in for a coffee and found out there was a couple of spaces left on the tour, so we paid a fiver each and off we went. ( Normally have to book in advance)
The tour lasted about an hour and was very informative and quite entertaining. The guide was very knowledgeable and all staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Had tour, the guide was very knowledgeable and good fun, the cafe has a good selection of goodies and the toilets were immaculate
